Shallow-tube Wells under the Project MANa Awarded to Farmers
Seven (7) units of shallow tube wells (STW’s) were awarded by Hon. Mayor Estela D. Antipolo, M.D., Hon. Vice Mayor Lugil S. Ragadio and the Sangguniang Bayan Members together with the staff of Municipal Agriculture Office to cluster of farmers covering a total of 3.0 hectare under the rainfed area last March 12, 2018 after the Flag Ceremony of the municipal employees of San Antonio, Zambales. Recipients of the STW’s were Silvestre Dalo et. al. of Cadaanan-Cabalo, Santos Bautista et. al. of Cabaruan, Burgos, Leopoldo Fabay et. al. of Catanubungan, East Dirita, Ador Fabro et. al of Namacanan-baliw, Luna, Ailyn Gonzales et. al of Namacanan, Luna, Gil Gonzales of Namacanan, Luna and Federico Pascasio et. al of Dinumagat, Antipolo.
The STW’s were requested from the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office III under the Project MANa Program. Project MANa (Maunlad na Agrikultura sa Nayon) is one of the current thrusts of the Department of Agriculture to refocues its bid towards providing available food in the tables of every Filipino. The project consists of two components, one being the rehabilitation of El Niño damaged areas and mitigation plan for La Niña, and the second component which is the identification of potential one million hectares for rice expansion area, rehabilitation of existing irrigation facilities and provision of appropriate irrigation system to rice rainfed areas.
