MAFC Meeting Conducted
The Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council (MAFC) is composed by the President/Chairman of various farmers and fisherfolk associations and cooperatives and government sector representatives in the municipality of San Antonio, Zambales. The council serves as the monitoring arm of the Department of Agriculture in the municipal level by virtue of Executive Order 116; Rule 113.1 of Department of Agriculture; AO No. 6 Series of 1998 as affirmed by AO No. 34 of 2000 and the mandate of Agricultural and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997 (AFMA). The Council ensures the success of programs and projects of the Department of Agriculture within their levels of operation on purely voluntary basis.
Regular meeting is conducted for the council to be updated on DA programs and to discuss issues affecting agriculture and fisheries development in the locality. MAFC San Antonio is headed by Chairman Armenio L. Abad, President of the Catanubungan Dakkel Catanubungan Bassit Irrigators Associaton. Mr. Abad also represents the body to the Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Council that also conducts a regular monthly meeting.
Being an active AFC in the Region, the council receives an allocation/budget from the Philippine Council of Agriculture and Fishery (PCAF) in the conduct of quarterly meeting.
