Capones and Camara Island Coastal Clean-up
Due to the storm surge that frequented Zambales area, garbage and trash build-up was very evident over the area of Capones and Camara Island, that really serves as a devastating sight to look at. In this regard, the Municipal Tourism Office conducted coastal cleanups on November 15, 18, and 26, 2019 over at the mentioned islands. The MTO Office and volunteers went to the two islands and was able to collect over 300 sacks of trash from the 3-day cleanup. The trash are composed mostly of plastic bottles, cigarette butts, rubber slippers, diapers, foils (from snacks), and the like. These are the trash that was brought about by the storm surge coming from the north areas. The trashes were properly segregated and were taken by the staff of the NRCF after every cleanup activity.
Even though cleanups were conducted, still it is not enough. There is still an ample amount of trash/garbage on Capones Island. That is why the MTO will still continue the cleanup. And cleanups must be done after every storm surges in the area.
